We all remember this beautiful scene from LOVE AAJ KAL. Students, Youth are more fascinated towards the non-main stream courses that are lavishing in INDIA. Be it Fresco, be it Cryogenic, India is surely rising as a non-engineering-developing India. Hence we are bringing to you the details of some off-beat courses that you can choose on.

Art Restoration (FRESCO)

Art Restoration aka Art Conservation,mainly emphasis on returning the work to an earlier state by scrubbing it up and thereby further altering it from its novel state. Art restoration is vital to the survival of classical paintings and is part of the science field of chemistry.Art conservation entails examination, documentation, treatment, and preventive care of the art object supported by research and education.

Eligibility: The eligibility requirements may vary from college to college. NMIHACM puts the eligibility bar only for graduates but some institutes offer these courses to all the youth possessing a basic degree with specialization in subjects like archaeology, ancient and medieval history, history of world art and so forth.
Career In Art Restoration:
For sure when the work is regarding art then the employment would be massive in Museums and Monuments. National Museum Centres situated in Delhi, Lucknow and Kolkata offers vast employment forthe youth pursuing ART RESTORATION.The Indian National Trust for Art and Cultural Heritage (INTACH), New Delhi engages in art restoration and conservation and offers its services to both private owners as well as to state run galleries and museums. The hiring for students is obviously high in western countries but India now is also witnessing the change in career opportunities.Even auction houses employ art restorers and art conservers for such jobs.Libraries also employ art restorers and conservers to restore and preserve their manuscripts as well as other art objects they may have.

CARTOGRAPHY

It deals with the science or practice of drawing maps. Let us talk about different uses of maps:Tourist’s navigation, mountaineering, bikers preparing their next ride, weather reports, making railway lines etc. Cartographers are working at the back-end to collect up-to-date information and display them on maps and computers to help a diverse range of users do an infinite number of things.

Eligibility: Most of the colleges offer PG degree in cartography with the geography as a main subject in graduation. Rest depends on the discretion of college.
Career In Cartography:
In the private sector, individuals are needed who are well versed in geographical and cartographic concepts but alsofeel comfortable working with the hardware and software that drive the applications.

Anthropology

Anthropologists work mainly in projects taken up by museums and universities for archaeological investigations, biological evolutionary studies and other research areas including languages. Anthropology can be divided into more specialized branches of study. This division is known as the “four-field” approach to the subject. These four divisions are:

Eligibility: Anthropologists come from humanities or science backgrounds, hence graduation can be pursued in both BSc/BA streams. These are 3 year courses followed by specialization at post-graduation level. Most of the colleges ask only +2 and graduates for M.Sc. in Anthropology.
Career In Anthropology:
There are various kinds of career for Anthropologist both at graduation level and at PG level. One can do research in universities like Archaeological Survey of India, the Planning Commission and the Commission for Scheduled Castes, Tribes and Other Backward Classes, the WHO, UNESCO and UNICEF. For non-research based jobs one can apply in Museums and libraries which pay a high salary as do corporate houses for jobs in the Human Resource Development sector.

Cryogenic

Cryogenics is a branch of science which deals with the compounds and elements at very low temperatures. This branch of science follows absolute or Kelvin scale of temperature.

CHIRURGICAL

Master of chirurgical is a super speciality degree (as what termed by experts, though even I don’t know what it means) categorised in cardiothoracic surgery. There are many specialities available of it in areas like Cardio Thoracic Surgery, GI Surgery, Neuro Surgery, Oncology, Paediatric Surgery, and Urology.

ARCHAEOLOGY

Archaeology deals with the study about past civilization.Archaeology states to the combination of two words ‘archaios’ and ‘logos’ which means ancient things and theory of science.

Eligibility: :For UGs, students who have studied history as a subject in 10+2 are eligible. For PGs, should have completed his/her graduation in any discipline. However,graduates in social sciences like sociology, history, anthropology are given a preference.
Career In Archaeology:
After successfully completing masters in Archaeology one can apply in Archaeological Survey of India (ASI), Indian Council of Historical Research (ICHR), National Museum, Universities and colleges, Government and private museums and cultural galleries.They can work as epigraphs (study of ancient inscriptions on walls, temples etc.) and numismatists (study of coins). Young archaeologists get immediately absorbed into the various departments of the Archaeological Survey of India (ASI).
