I'm insecure, but I'm strong.
I'm dumb, but I'm intelligent.
I'm unattractive, but I'm beautiful.
I'm alone, but I'm loved.
I'm sad, but I smile.
I'm not whole, but I'm happy.
I'm broken, but you will never know.
Love what makes you different
I’ve never understood why little
insecurities have to be labelled as worthy of hiding or as something to be
ashamed of, instead of being celebrated as a quality that adds to the story of
who we are.
So you feel too short or too tall? Who
cares? You’re the exact height that you need to be. Some of us have long legs,
some short, some of us can find that perfect joke for the perfect moment while
other of us communicate in subtle and introverted ways. And that’s great.
Whether it’s a physical insecurity or a deeper one, celebrate your differences
– they’re what make you stand apart. Loving yourself fully means loving those
parts of you too.
Let yourself love fully
Heartbreak is a natural part of life that
we have all experienced a time or two. So is love. Instead of letting past
traumas naggingly pull at your coat sleeves, let them go and allow yourself to
love with everything you are and everything you have. Giving love helps you
feel love, for yourself and others too.
Celebrate
Whether it’s a personal or work-related
victory, celebrate the achievements in your life! Even if you just feel pure
happiness, celebrate that too. Achievements don’t have to be narrowly defined.
If you’re a goal oriented person, make sure to let yourself feel and celebrate
all of the small marks along the journey, the first step and the half way
points. Aren’t they just as important in the grand scheme of things?
Respect your body
Having been in college for several years
now, I am so tired of hearing about every body image issue in the book and
seeing no conscious strides being made to overcome them. Loving and accepting
yourself as You are means that you have to be on the same team as your body
too. Feed it healthy things, and take care of it, and that includes respecting
your needs to have that ice cream or take that day off from the gym to relax.
Be free to be you, no matter what size or shape you may be!
Appreciate others
Often the way we interact and treat others
is a reflection of how we feel about our own selves. Respecting every person
for the lessons and light that they bring into your life is another way of
loving yourself, by recognizing that we are all a part of the same human
network. Underlying the false perceptions of divisions that we create through labelling
and subconscious distancing, there is a deep unity that connects us all.
Confidence is the most beautiful quality
anybody could embody. Approach every moment of each day with the expectation
that you can do anything.
