How to make mark as a #Fresher by Mishika Mittal

How to make mark as a #Fresher

Since the 12th Board Exam Results are out with a raising number of high scorers, every student is in a frenzy to seek admission in the best possible university. No doubt, starting days in a university can prove to be a daunting time in every budding student's life, plenty of discoveries and new beginnings are much-awaited. Be it the late nights, later mornings, and the inquisitiveness to do (almost) everything, but in the midst of everything one has to make his own space. The college system is an integral part of one's life.

Stepping in college, in a way compels you to meet new people, therefore, one shouldn't act too gingerly or in a thrifty manner while befriending people. Firstly, limiting your friends is a big no-no. If the people around you aren't your type of people, don't be disheartened. Being part of a lively atmosphere can heighten your experiences which you'll keep embracing even after ages. This can engender your interest in socializing. Rather than that, most students settle into friendship groups around later half of the year - don't fret if you don't feel like you've met people you get a kick with. Get to know your batch mates, join clubs. Don't be shy, its not advisable for everyone to try and become an extrovert and keep rambling around the college aimlessly, but the idea is to get stuck in. Come out of your shell.

Some try their hands at the University Politics which enhances confidence, with transferable skills like public speaking, streetwise intelligence, leadership skills, a high work ethic all that comes with running a campaign, it is not just limited to your college life but also can help you in any field. It also drives you out of your comfort zone.

Nevertheless, do not overlook your academic performance in this new found excitement of outsmarting others. You ought to maintain a perfect balance between your studies and the University-Student lifestyle. As a matter of fact, in your Post-University life, your academical performances do matter, for your placements and there's always an eligibility criteria for giving entrances in which ever field you aspire to pursue Masters in.

Within the college, you'll find support for all activities- from the excellent staff, amazing faculty, and a bunch of modish and happening seniors. Colleges also provide plenty of opportunities to get involved in all sorts of social, sporting, volunteering and other personal development activities, you can get involved with running college itself! Try being social, get counted in as every college encompasses a unique and diverse community spirit, full of lively events and opportunities.

Of course, being a FUCHCHA, you will be overwhelmed and experiencing a mixture of emotions right now, from nervousness to excitement, use this energy productively. My only advice would be to get stuck in, crack and grasp every opportunity, keep exploring and get to know the best of you, pick up and get the hang of everything that enlightens you and gratifies your hunger for knowledge.
