#First Day Of College Is #Right Ahead by Manisha Panchal

#First Day Of College Is #Right Ahead

Anticipation of meeting new people, the confusion of a new environment, the anxiety of the amount of work to do and perhaps the excitement of preparing your future. Those of us who are college veterans will never forget our freshman year at college. Some of us may like to forget our freshman year ,but in general it is a time filled with an anticipation, some anxiety, and wonderful discoveries.
For faculty, each year is a new beginning; new faces, new energy, and new discussions differ for many of these first-time students.
College is definitely a whole different ballgame compared to high school. Everyone has told you and you have probably spent the last two months of summer break psyching yourself up for the moment you walk on campus. But the truth is college is totally different. Classes are all throughout the day, you have no one telling you what to do in your free time, and of course, classes are everywhere across the campus. No one wants to end up walking around the campus.
When the first day of classes arrives, gives yourself enough time to shower, drink coffee, and perform all your other morning rituals. You're going to be excited and a little nervous about your first class, which is totally natural. Just stay calm and you will make it through the day. And ask for help when you need it: every student on campus has experienced what you are going through , and they will all be able to guide you through your first day.
The college experience is one that holds many pleasant memories, you may begin the journey as a scared mice, out in the open desert but make the best of it and trudge forward becoming a 'willful tiger'.
Make your first day with some of the good memories because it will not get back again ever.
Enjoy the Day,You can never have another first day of your first year of college classes.

COLLEGE – THE NEW BEGINNING By RISHABH ARYA

COLLEGE – THE NEW BEGINNING

Till now, you must have read a lot about how college is going to be like. And the purpose of this article is the same. But what makes this one different is that here are some points that every freshman should read so that your campus life does turn out what you expect it to be like (somewhat):

1. THE FIRST DAY (rather, the FIRST SEMESTER)
You are most likely to find yourself in a pretty lonely spot, friendless and wondering why the bloody heck you are where you are. You seem to observe yourself amongst creatures that are far different from you in every aspect. Though consider yourself lucky if you find a person like you or made some friends on the orientation day (if you attended it that is).
It is understandable that you might feel pathetic about your whereabouts. It’s okay because the awesomeness is yet to fill in the ambience. Just like you, there are a lot of awesome people who are yet to crack open themselves. Here’s a pro tip for you and those people: DONT JUST HOLE UP IN YOURSELF. GET UP, GET OUT AND SOCIALISE.
Getting out of your comfort zone can really make you a hero. It will help you make friends rather than acquaintances plus you will inspire people to get comfy too. See! You are a hero already and that too within a week.
2. SNIFF SOME SOCIAL AIR
College time leaves you with a ton of free time. Trust me, it does. As every good thing comes with great responsibility, utilize your newfound freedom and be smart. Cut back from solitary amusements and make friends, ‘contacts’, and more over feel like a responsible and an awesome person.
3. GETTING OVER THINGS
Get over the idea that your parents will still ask you as to what the teacher taught you today. You are more like an adult now who needs to take the responsibility of their own actions. Be independent, you will like it.
Secondly, getting over your home sickness can prove to be slightly hard but not impossible. One might feel nostalgic, missing your colony friends or your pet, etc. But it’s okay. If it gets too hard, go for the on campus counselling services.

So these were just a very few out of a lot of points about how you can think of college as. It feels strange in the beginning only to make you comfortable later on. So don’t worry, these point might help you have a good start of your campus life. But do remember that college is as much about finding out who you really are as it is about getting that degree. So stay tuned as more points are yet to come.

My First Day At College By Sarabpreet kaur

My First Day At College

Have you guys ever thought 'what your first day at college will be like or should be like?'. I have and  I'm sure you all must have.
I still remember my first day at college. I had looked forward to this day from my school days. I woke up early, which was quite unusual. Obviously, I had to get ready and be on time. After reaching the college, I entered with a mixed feeling of excitement and frightening fear of ragging. I found out from the reception that G-5 was my classroom. I entered the class as if I was entering a new world where I knew nobody and without even looking at anybody I quickly grabbed a seat on the first bench.
I felt awkward sitting in the class doing nothing. So, I thought of exploring my phone menu. Few minutes later, a girl came and sat next to me. Her name was 'Inu Agarwal'. I need not to tell you what happens when two girls meet as strangers,  they either becomes best friends or end up becoming enemies. Fortunately, we managed to become best friends. Soon chatting around became normal.
After few minutes, the bell rang. First lecture was about to start and a teacher entered the class 'Ms. Rekha'. She introduced herself and asked us to introduce ourselves to rest of the class. Everybody gave their introduction and soon the lecture came to an end. Rekha ma'am left the class and we all went to the canteen where our seniors were waiting for us to rag.
Everything went smoothly.  I met many new people, some of them became my very good friends. I was a bit nervous at first but when the day ended I was quite happy. Though, it wasn't really a very special day.

IT STILL FEELS LIKE YESTERDAY By INU AGGARWAL

IT STILL FEELS LIKE YESTERDAY

I remember my 1st day in college. I was excited to meet new people. It was a bit difficult at first to be with people I never knew. I was trying to adjust with new people and everything went smoothly. I met wonderful people whom I still call best friends. Every time when we meet up we recall those moments that we have shared together .“wo har roz late jaana “ , “phone kar k ek dusre ko tang karna “,“bunk karna “ ,”teachers ka mazak banana “, “ lectures mein sona “,“raat raat bhar group par baat karna aur maze karna “. It still feels like yesterday. There are no responsibilities to take care of family on issues related to me. College was like a roller coaster ride of ups and downs but with having a great bunch of friends, it makes you live your life to the fullest. Having wonderful friends makes college one of the best experiences of life. I have learned many things and the fun we had for 3 years was full of adventure and full of enjoyment .After stepping in the real world you will never remember the classes but yes you will remember the time that you have shared with your friends and the memories. Everything ends and in the last you are only left with the memories,We don’t know how time flies, how everything changes only you know is that u are in the best part of your life which you will never get.So stay out late on Monday hang out with your friends on Tuesday when you have exam on Wednesday.Spend money because the work never ends but college life does.

#Life without #PARENTS! by Charu chellani

Life without PARENTS

OK!
The title chosen is a bit out of ledge. What made me write this is a question one might be thinking.
So.
an answer in one word..
PG OR HOSTEL STUDENT'S LIFE - life without parents’ protection, family question answering and constant poking by siblings.
Today, most probably students after passing 12th, after graduation, or after post graduation, are coming out from their hometown and far away from their families for further studies or for job placements, for proper facilities for their studies, proper guidance related to their future prospectus, will get growth and exposure. No one will be there for their care, security, and safety because it is not possible in everyone's case that they have their relatives at places where they are migrating. They have to lead their  life alone without parents ,have to do struggle and have to fight with the loneliness.
WHY PG OR HOSTEL is believed to be a turning point in students’ life?
By watching movies and soaps ,today's youth create an imaginary picture of pg and hostel life that pg and hostel is the place where only  "MASTI AND MASTI CHAARO AUR", "PARTIES KARENGE". We party animals think that they are going far from their parents ...YEAH! YEAH! WOW!!!!!! - No restrictions, no obligations, no question and answer session after coming late at home.
The only thing they will get- FREEDOM.
RESTRICTIONS AND KBC SESSION used to irritate kids and they treat home as a PRISON and they all are the PRISONERS.
Just one line they scream in a room-
                               "BHAAG CHALO YAHA SE".
They want to do parties with friends, hangouts with friends, night outs with friends, want to do by which they get KICK in their life. But when parents restrict them and do stop them for some reasons, we think parents are bounding us in a limits and boundaries.
THINKING-
WHY THEY ARE STOPPING US? WHAT ARE THEIR PROBLEMS? WHY THEY DON'T ALLOW ME TO ATTEND NIGHT PARTY AND ENJOY NIGHT LIFE?
You know what, I was wrong and right..I AM A BIG GIRL/BOY NOW.
but we will always a kid for our parents who learn how to walk by holding their fingers.
During watching television and suddenly our brother or sister snatch the remote from our hands and will change the T.v channel. After that TOM AND JERRY like fighting force us to think...OKAY I m here for some time ,will go from here , then no sister or brother for fights. No exchange of outfits, NO sharing of sweets and chocolates.
BUT after getting into pg or hostel, where no restrictions, no time limits, no tom and jerry like fights, no rules and regulations, rock and roll type of life. They come to know about reality that when they have to spend monthly pocket money on their expenses for which their parents never stopped. MONEY RESTRICTS THEM TO DO FUN. After getting bored because of tasteless food of pg or hostel, they remember the taste of mum's food. They will feel Where are their siblings? Whom they will do fight? With whom they will share their secrets and experience
PG life or Hostel life will give you new begging of life independently with new family and friends ( PG mates),with new caretaker ( landlord of pg ). You will become an independent  and responsible person. We learn how to manage expenses with the limited pocket money, how to take care of ourselves, how to fight with the loneliness because siblings are not here to entertain you with their idiotic activities, how to live life happily and keep smiling without tensions and stress.
We learn how to face problems of life alone. Fight with the problematic circumstances, and hot can we get out from them by many solutions and again come back to our future track and achieve goals.
YES. life is difficult to spend without parents without their restrictions and advises ,without entertaining siblings, without best friends but leading life as paying guest and as a hosteller ,things make you realize that parents stopped us because they knew what is wrong and right for us, about their struggle and sacrifices for us just make us able to reach the heights of sky ,their everlasting and unconditional love.
At last,
Lines to parents-
NO MATTER WHO OLD I GROW, I WOULD ALWAYS REMAIN THAT STUPID, LOVING AND SMILING LITTLE KID OF YOURS.

How to make mark as a #Fresher by Mishika Mittal

How to make mark as a #Fresher

Since the 12th Board Exam Results are out with a raising number of high scorers, every student is in a frenzy to seek admission in the best possible university. No doubt, starting days in a university can prove to be a daunting time in every budding student's life, plenty of discoveries and new beginnings are much-awaited. Be it the late nights, later mornings, and the inquisitiveness to do (almost) everything, but in the midst of everything one has to make his own space. The college system is an integral part of one's life.

Stepping in college, in a way compels you to meet new people, therefore, one shouldn't act too gingerly or in a thrifty manner while befriending people. Firstly, limiting your friends is a big no-no. If the people around you aren't your type of people, don't be disheartened. Being part of a lively atmosphere can heighten your experiences which you'll keep embracing even after ages. This can engender your interest in socializing. Rather than that, most students settle into friendship groups around later half of the year - don't fret if you don't feel like you've met people you get a kick with. Get to know your batch mates, join clubs. Don't be shy, its not advisable for everyone to try and become an extrovert and keep rambling around the college aimlessly, but the idea is to get stuck in. Come out of your shell.

Some try their hands at the University Politics which enhances confidence, with transferable skills like public speaking, streetwise intelligence, leadership skills, a high work ethic all that comes with running a campaign, it is not just limited to your college life but also can help you in any field. It also drives you out of your comfort zone.

Nevertheless, do not overlook your academic performance in this new found excitement of outsmarting others. You ought to maintain a perfect balance between your studies and the University-Student lifestyle. As a matter of fact, in your Post-University life, your academical performances do matter, for your placements and there's always an eligibility criteria for giving entrances in which ever field you aspire to pursue Masters in.

Within the college, you'll find support for all activities- from the excellent staff, amazing faculty, and a bunch of modish and happening seniors. Colleges also provide plenty of opportunities to get involved in all sorts of social, sporting, volunteering and other personal development activities, you can get involved with running college itself! Try being social, get counted in as every college encompasses a unique and diverse community spirit, full of lively events and opportunities.

Of course, being a FUCHCHA, you will be overwhelmed and experiencing a mixture of emotions right now, from nervousness to excitement, use this energy productively. My only advice would be to get stuck in, crack and grasp every opportunity, keep exploring and get to know the best of you, pick up and get the hang of everything that enlightens you and gratifies your hunger for knowledge.

Survival Tips For The Freshers' By Manveen Kaur

Survival Tips For The Freshers'

  • ALWAYS BE YOURSELF
It’s never a good idea to try to put on a mask or fake it; people will see straight through it and you’ll feel much more comfortable if you are not trying to be someone you’re not. With time, you will unavoidably and certainly change and grow up, but that comes with the experience, not because you’re trying too hard. Just take it easy.
  • DON’T BE SHY
Don’t be afraid to start up random conversations with people you just happen to be standing next to – that is how you make your new friends. Its highly likely, they’re just as nervous as you and will welcome the chance to have a conversation! Even if you normally wouldn’t make the first move to introduce yourself to somebody, make the effort and others will be grateful. Remember that you’re all sailing in the same boat.
  • INTERACT WITH YOUR SENIORS
Your seniors have been there and done that. Nobody knows the college better than they do. They are possibly one of those few people who can actually acquaint you with the do’s and dont’s. Since they’ve already been through these experiences they may also be able to empathise well with you and lend a helping hand wherever you get stuck.
  • WORK HARD – PARTY HARDER
“Once you’ve got into a college of your choice, you don’t need to work at all” This is something you must have heard all this while. Let me tell you, this is far away from what the truth is. College life can be darn exhausting, its all about striking the right balance – yes, it’s important to take your classes seriously, but it’s equally necessary to cut loose and have fun during your undergraduate years. Don’t be too hard on yourself. Go make some memories out there.
  • SIGN UP FOR THE SOCIETIES
Sign up to any clubs that slightly interest you. College life is the time to experiment and realise your hidden potentials. Bring out the actor/singer/artist you’ve kept hidden for so long.
  • GO WITH THE FLOW
Try not to worry if everyone isn’t as friendly as you are – it’s likely you won’t get on with everyone you meet on your first day. You’re bound to make lots of friends outside your department as well so you don’t have to feel like a social outcast. You’ve probably had everyone telling you that you’ll meet your friends for life in college. Many freshers thus find themselves engulfed in a wild panic after apparently having not discovered these special people just a few days in. Though many great friendships are made in the first few weeks, many, many more are made throughout the year and there will be plenty of opportunities to meet your future soul-mates.
  • FEELING HOMESICK IS ALRIGHT
For time immemorial, there have been freshers crying hysterically on the phone to their parents about how college has been a disappointment and way below their expectations. You may hate it and want to go home immediately. This is completely normal. Moving to a different town or city – often for the first time, away from regular, happy routines that you’ve developed over nearly two decades – can be a massive shock to the system. Remember you may not feel at home instantly. It is going to take some TIME. Dont give up, give it a chance. It’ll pass.
  • GET TO KNOW YOUR SURROUNDINGS
Get acquainted with your university and campus beforehand (take a trip up there with your parents or friends) especially if you are living on campus, get to know the halls and area of the college so you’ll feel more confident.
  • EXPERIMENT
Student life is the chance to express yourself in a way that you were maybe unable to do so back home, limited perhaps by parental pressure, or a basic lack of opportunity. So by all means, die your hair purple, get those dreadlocks you’ve been wanting for so long, get your eyebrow pierced, buy a top hat and wander round campus in pyjamas, if that floats your boat. Always remember fashion may come and go but style goes on forever.
  • DON’T SUCCUMB TO PEER PRESSURE
Everyone wants plenty of friends to hang out with, and chill out with but there is also the peer pressure that comes when they feel they have to do something their friends want to do, and if they don’t they will either be isolated, rejected, teased/bullied. Insecurity creeps in and they just go with it against their better judgement. This is something you may feel in college. People may ask you to do things you may not want to do. Don’t feel sorry for yourself. Stand by your words and say NO.
  • THINK BROADER
You do need to live in harmony, so be amiable, don’t make assumptions based on appearances. This is a rare opportunity for expanding your horizons, so even if someone doesn’t seem your type, give them a chance. Northerners, southerners, rich kids, poor kids, nerds, gays, straights, party lovers, fashionistas, potheads, showoffs, spoil brats – they’ll all be there in your college, but life is immeasurably richer by getting to know them.
  • ENGAGE IN AS MANY SOCIAL EVENTS AS POSSIBLE
Try to go to as many social events as possible. It may be a little tiring, and you’re unlikely to remember everyone later, but the more people you meet now, the more you will bump into other people you will recognize and can chat with later on.
  • MAKE THE BEST OF IT.
College life lasts just for mere 3 years. These three years will pass even before you realise. You will have a more flexible schedule. Notice I didn’t say “free time.” You may technically have a class at 8 am, but as a college student, you may get a lot of time to yourself too. So use this time wisely. Learn new languages, interact with different people, go beyond your comfort zone, go crazy. Remember what they say? You’re only young once!

First Cut-off blues by Neeraj V Murali

First Cut-off blues

Waiting for the to-be-released first-cutoff list is worse than waiting for your board results. I believe most of us can accurately gauge the range within which we will score, right? Of course, there are exceptional cases wherein an expected 80% boomerangs to 95% or glides down smoothly to settle at 72%. However, after the first few bursts of euphoria, you begin to have trepid moments. Even after having scored a comfortable 90%+, uncertainty hovers around you. Some 3 lakh applicants and just 54000 seats, isn’t it an unequal ratio?
On top of that, news pours in about how thousands of students have scored above 90% and are vying for the popular courses. Your confidence falls a notch below. You feel as if your whole life has been a white lie. At every juncture, you’ve told that inevitably, you should work hard till twelfth grade and then, you’ll have a golden life ahead. Golden life, eh? The only golden moment is perhaps, with your scores, you can tape nagging relatives’ wily mouths. Else, you realize that your destiny is papered down with stressful events and a pressurized life.

The open days perhaps serve as the best booster to your confidence.  You assure yourselves with the fact that perhaps, the competition isn’t so high and you might bag a seat. Tense moments return with some friends asking you to lend an ear to their voracious complaints. Usually, it is a well-prepared rant against their parent, the CBSE, the teachers, the examiners, the school watchman and in fact, anyone. For, they had scored a low score just because of these anti-student forces, but not because they hadn’t even cared to study.
However, as the days pass quickly, you find yourself forgetting about the cut-offs. You adopt a carefree attitude and shrug your shoulders every time someone mentions impending doom. After all, is it worth worrying so much about the future? All the same, as the first cut-offs are released, you sit back and wonder whether it was worth waiting for this disastrous surprise. Perhaps, inwardly, you had expected it – every college posted 98s’ & 97s’. Why, some had 100 as the required percentile!

You just let yourself be swathed away in waves of ultimate misery and desolation. Ah! But, it is hard to be born and succeed in India, eh? Stripped of every comfortable feeling, you devoutly hope the colleges will be compassionate enough in the next cut-off. Hopefully, you will pass through this agony unscathed and in late-August, be seated in a college and course of your choice!

Good Luck, newbies! This is an agonizing experience, but a memorable one too! Keep your eyes peeled for the cut-offs and hope for the best!

My #Freshmen #Year by Grishma Srivastava

My Freshmen Year.

My first year in University of Delhi was like a roller coaster ride full of surprises, ups and downs, love, adventures and fear.

Getting into DU was like a dream come true, I always dreamt of studying into this kind of university. Being an outstation student it was a bit more difficult for me than all the Delhiites.

The Cut-off Day came and I was through.. Yippiee!!!! Now it was simple for me.. Book tickets and the campus walk as a DU FUCHA was not far away.

But it was not that easy. Trains. Reservations. Well Well. Almost whole India can tell you about the great mystery of booking railway tickets. And as it happened Here comes the twist

No reservation???

So what

The passion to be a part of Delhi University was enough to keep me motivated throughout the journey.

I somehow managed to reach Delhi from Lucknow, the city of Nawabs (without reservation). This journey on track is unforgettable as I kept hopping across the train for seat.

Reached Delhi and here was the day to complete my admission formalities.

After standing in a long never ending line I got in. the college was opening on the 21st July. I was excited and scared.  Scared by the fact that Ill get ragged, I didn't know what they will do to me. But deep inside I was waiting for the surprise.. Adventure

Alas!!! I wasnt ragged Come on seniors Thodi Izzat Wali Ragging hi Kar dete

All I got was a great orientation ceremony and amazing chats with my seniors. I felt all alone and home sick when I came to the capital, everything was new to me the people, E- rikshaw, the metro, and what not.

Accommodation was another task but who cares I was living as a paying guest with people from all over country. It was all weird at first but my PG became my second family. After a week in college I made some amazing friends, met some great people, went to new  places.

A year has passed and I wonder how so fast I got to know  the reason why people love the Delhi university. The people here are amazing. Every student is one of a kind, DU has got the best college fest season of kinds celebrity guests, shops, games etc.. In our colleges we dont care what people wear, you can wear a D&G or a Sarojini ka footpath top, no one cares  The life in the university of Delhi will become a part of your life that you will never forget, it will give you memories that you will cherish FOREVER.
