Making Memories By Rashmeet

Making Memories

If you’re a college-bound high school junior or senior, this holiday break will probably find you completing campus visits, filling out forms, gearing up for the big test day, and completing any number of other tasks.
Take a moment amidst the chaos to mentally fast forward 3 year,to your farewell. What gifts will you take back from college with you?-The memories! Its good to have memories and even better to be able to recall them. No one would like to have vague recollections of the best phase of their life, isn't it?
So,here's a complete guide not only to make your college memorable but enshrined!
1.Click Pictures
Click pictures to store memories and not just uploading on Facebook. Everybody tells you to record all the significant moments of your college life on camera, but I'd suggest you to click every mundane thing, click your routine tasks, click your messy dorm, click the tasteless food of your canteen, because you are going to miss everything once you pass out!
Also, wouldn't you want to show your kids the pictures while narrating them you epic stories ?;)
 2. Preserve concrete things
The field visit. the historical trip, the nature walk- they all have an entry ticket. Try saving things like! Even though they seem ordinary bits of paper right now, someday in your life-they'll take you back to college days, and trust me that will be nostalgic!

3. Scrap-booking
Once you’re settled into your dorm set aside a junk drawer for random news clippings, orientation pamphlets, student ID cards, and other memorabilia. Later you can organize everything in a “Freshman Year” album that will reduce your mom to tears…in a good way.
4 Plan get to-gathers

Instead of just telling your friends(outsider the college) and family the heroic saga of your college times, invite them to your wonderland itself! Don't go hunting places for reunions, rather plan it in your own campus and have gala time.Call your friends and family to attend college fests!

Myths about Girl’s Colleges By Gulshan Khan

Myths about Girl’s Colleges By Gulshan Khan

After school life every student wants to get into a reputed college, everyone wants their dream college like me SRCC. So, we all search, ask our teachers and friends and we get confused with too many options. We live in a country like India, where a lot of myths exist and people think they are all true. I am from a girl’s college and surprisingly myths are about it too.

So, here are some famous myths about Girls Colleges:

1. We are not smart enough to co-ed colleges.
2. We have harder time getting jobs.
3. We are lesbian.
4. We are less communicative.
5. We eat too much.
6. We don't dress up.
2. By the way no one asks you from which college you pass out except how much you’ve scored.
3. We have too much friends and actually we are just friends.
4. You can check it out many famous political leaders, actors, dancers etc are from Girls Colleges, and it is not possible to be in these fields with less communication skills.
5. This is illogical no human being can eat more than their appetite.
6.I want to say just one thing come in our fest ,annual day or even any day you will feel like you are watching a fashion show.

Being a student in a Girls College let me tell you these are just rumors. I have counter points and I totally disagree with these points.
You can Google about the top colleges not by name fame but by rank holders, we are no where less.
So, before you choose your college, do collect info about your course then find out which is the best college not by name/fame but in rank. Never think that myths are true just keep one thing your mind, There Is No Shortcut to Success.

Escaping end-of-semester Topsy-turvy ! By rashmeet

Escaping end-of-semester Topsy-turvy !

''If its college,Its going to be crazy!''

Admit it,no matter how responsible, attentive and focused you've been in your school, when it comes to college, you're most likely to drop your nerdy streak and dive into the pool of freedom! And that over-utilization of freedom is soon going to land you in trouble- Semester end exams!Come early December, Winter Break looms ever closer—while coursework and exams begin to quickly pile up! It’s all too easy to feel overwhelmed and lose focus, so here’s four key ways you can avoid the end-of-semester slump:

1. Know your responsibilities
2. Plan ahead
3. Finish assignments early
4. Take meaningful breaks

In times of high stress (like the end of the semester), few things are more dangerous than simply not understanding your obligations. When you’re plagued by a vague feeling of “having too much to do,” a subtle sense of frenzy can seep into your work. This is counterproductive because it corrodes your confidence—causing even more worry—and can lead to a destructive downward spiral.
You can prevent this scenario by determining what’s required as the semester draws to a close. This entails a great deal of proactive behavior since assignments are sometimes unclear, and exam dates and test structures aren’t always well communicated. Don’t be afraid to reach out to your professors and/or fellow students to verify what will be expected of you!
Knowing exactly what you must accomplish—and when—will help you plan ahead effectively. When work appears less like a monolithic behemoth and more like a series of approachable tasks, you’ll be more likely to take that crucial first step. Breaking assignments into smaller pieces and organizing deadlines is critical. Plan exactly when you’ll complete which assignments and spread that work over a feasibly wide range of time. This will, again, help you avoid feeling overwhelmed.
The assignments that cause the most stress are often surprisingly easy, and the anxiety they cause when left untouched throughout the semester is simply disproportionate to how much work they truly require to complete. If you avoid putting off coursework, you’ll have a large advantage come finals.
As other students are writing their final papers, you’ll be preparing for exams with far less to worry about and more course content already mastered. Ideally, you should identify the assignments that you can complete in the first two months of the semester, ask the necessary questions, and prepare a near-finished version of each assignment to review closer to the deadline.

Breaks are crucial, especially near the end of the semester. Students who expect to produce top-notch work while under high stress should assess whether or not they’re being realistic with their goals. Even if you feel that no amount of study could prepare you adequately, taking breaks is pivotal to keeping your mind fresh for tests. Sometimes, rest is better than any kind of prep or review, as it can help keep your memory sharp while also reducing stress.

So you see,its not that difficult, is it?

DELHI UNIVERSITY - “Livin' la Vida Loca" By Saurabh Bhatia

DELHI UNIVERSITY - “Livin' la Vida Loca"

So you have accomplished the first task of seeking astonishing marks in your board exams and proving everyone wrong who all ever doubted you. Now anxiety will kill you day by day as you wait for the sky touching cut offs to come down so that you can get the admission in the college you always wished for.
But believe me when I say this, getting into DU will be one of the most amazing things that will ever happen to you. Let me tell you how:-
1). A platform of Opportunities: In every college of DU, you will see various types of societies that you can get into and learn and work from. Even if you don’t like any of them and you think you have the caliber, you can open your own society, thus giving you the platform of opportunities.
2). You’ll grow as a person: Another perk of studying in DU is that it will change you in a person you never thought you are capable of becoming. The amount of exposure and experience you will get in the college will help you to become a better you.
3). Running into friends for life:  As DU comprises of so many colleges and has students from all over India, you may never know when you bump into your someone special or maybe your future BFF with whom you share all your secrets with. (Talking from experience)
4). Food Lovers: Yes Yes Yes you heard it right, Food! You’re in Delhi and the best thing about it is the variety of food they serve you with. Some of the best mouthwatering American Cheese Burgers and Golgappas you’ll have in your life. My special place is BYD in South Campus as it is cheap and the quality is great.
5). No Formals: You must be hearing your friends whining about wearing formals every day and be all neat and tidy. Livin la vida Loca Ji. Freedom to wear whatever you feel comfortable in, whether you are a fashion freak or a lousy unhygienic person, you get the freedom to wear whatever you desire.

This was just a sneak peek to the adventure you will face in DU. Wish all the fresher’s a great year ahead.

My First Day At College By Sarabpreet kaur

My First Day At College

Have you guys ever thought 'what your first day at college will be like or should be like?'. I have and  I'm sure you all must have.
I still remember my first day at college. I had looked forward to this day from my school days. I woke up early, which was quite unusual. Obviously, I had to get ready and be on time. After reaching the college, I entered with a mixed feeling of excitement and frightening fear of ragging. I found out from the reception that G-5 was my classroom. I entered the class as if I was entering a new world where I knew nobody and without even looking at anybody I quickly grabbed a seat on the first bench.
I felt awkward sitting in the class doing nothing. So, I thought of exploring my phone menu. Few minutes later, a girl came and sat next to me. Her name was 'Inu Agarwal'. I need not to tell you what happens when two girls meet as strangers,  they either becomes best friends or end up becoming enemies. Fortunately, we managed to become best friends. Soon chatting around became normal.
After few minutes, the bell rang. First lecture was about to start and a teacher entered the class 'Ms. Rekha'. She introduced herself and asked us to introduce ourselves to rest of the class. Everybody gave their introduction and soon the lecture came to an end. Rekha ma'am left the class and we all went to the canteen where our seniors were waiting for us to rag.
Everything went smoothly.  I met many new people, some of them became my very good friends. I was a bit nervous at first but when the day ended I was quite happy. Though, it wasn't really a very special day.

IT STILL FEELS LIKE YESTERDAY By INU AGGARWAL

IT STILL FEELS LIKE YESTERDAY

I remember my 1st day in college. I was excited to meet new people. It was a bit difficult at first to be with people I never knew. I was trying to adjust with new people and everything went smoothly. I met wonderful people whom I still call best friends. Every time when we meet up we recall those moments that we have shared together .“wo har roz late jaana “ , “phone kar k ek dusre ko tang karna “,“bunk karna “ ,”teachers ka mazak banana “, “ lectures mein sona “,“raat raat bhar group par baat karna aur maze karna “. It still feels like yesterday. There are no responsibilities to take care of family on issues related to me. College was like a roller coaster ride of ups and downs but with having a great bunch of friends, it makes you live your life to the fullest. Having wonderful friends makes college one of the best experiences of life. I have learned many things and the fun we had for 3 years was full of adventure and full of enjoyment .After stepping in the real world you will never remember the classes but yes you will remember the time that you have shared with your friends and the memories. Everything ends and in the last you are only left with the memories,We don’t know how time flies, how everything changes only you know is that u are in the best part of your life which you will never get.So stay out late on Monday hang out with your friends on Tuesday when you have exam on Wednesday.Spend money because the work never ends but college life does.

College Goals ByArpita Singhal

College GOALS :

Before entering college, or while in college, there are some specific goals you can set and get on a track toward success.
Below is a list of college-related goals :
1. Excel in Academics: Your freshman year sets the tone for the next four years and with the job market as competitive as it is today. It’s not enough just to have a college degree; you need to be committed to excellence.
2. Focus on Your Health: In the past, your parents took care of your health. In college, you’re responsible for taking care of yourself. Eat right, get rest, take vitamins and exercise. This won’t only contribute to your overall health, but it will also help you concentrate and excel in class.
3. Learn to Self-Advocate: Your parents didn’t come to college with you. They can’t fight your battles any longer. College is the time for you to begin advocating for yourself. Speak up, let your requests be known, and handle conflict like an adult. Starting self-advocacy in college will make your life easier and help you move toward independence.
4. Borrow Only What You Need: It’s tempting to borrow as much money as student loans will allow. College students often borrow for tuition and other college expenses. They use the extra money for various expenses, entertainment, etc. Don’t fall into this trap. Be a smart student loan borrower.
5. Work: Begin your work career in college. Working teaches you accountability and helps you supplement the funds your parents give you and will help you limit the money you borrow. Working also gives you valuable networking opportunities.
6. Start Networking: Brand yourself. Start using social media to make professional contacts. Collect emails and business cards from professionals you meet and work with. Those contacts will be useful when you begin your job search.
7. Begin Researching Careers: Learn all you can about your future career path. Talk to professionals in the field, shadow them if possible.
8. Commit to Internships: Internships are valuable tools at your disposal while in college. Whether paid or unpaid, they offer you opportunities for experience. Once you begin the job search, internships show future employers that you have already gathered some relevant job experience.
Setting Goals in College Can Prepare You For a Brighter Future.
Planning for the future makes perfect sense. You might think you have all the time in the world but those years fly by quickly. Preparation for the future prevents panicking later in life when you realize you should have thought about goals while you were in college.
Good Luck.

LIFE AS A FRESHMAN AT DU By GARIMA BAWEJA

LIFE AS A FRESHMAN AT DU

It’s hard to forget the freshman year of college life. Getting into college, or I must say getting into Delhi’s top most university is the most versatile and exuberant experience one can ever have!
It is a lot more than the earlier routines of school life, the habits, the workload, the feeling; life as a Duite is altogether a different feeling. In general, it is a time filled with anticipation, anxiety and a whole lot of wonderful discoveries, new people, new surroundings and everything!
It is the most important and fruitful phase of your life. These three years decide for your future, if used aptly may lead you to the top and too many wrong moves might end you up nowhere. But one does not have to be too grumpy and drudged all the time. All it takes is some planning, hard work and sheer determination to get to the top!
Your college life is the right place where you can discover yourself- your passion, your hobbies, your strengths, abilities and weaknesses and yes you can always work on them as your college life is the platform for growth and skill development. You get to learn a lot more things apart from studies. Discovering your passion and working on it can help you make a bright career- and what’s more exciting than making your passion as your career!
My message to the upcoming freshers is that enjoy your college life to the fullest as it is the best time of your life and yes stay focused on your goals!

Life Happens!!!!! By Jaidita Seth

Life Happens!!!!!

When I first started writing this blog it took me exactly 5 hours to come up with it, and it still looked stale. Emotionless 500 words, which even i could not relate too.
Then I cut down my draft to 200 words and it somehow started to make sense, but still there was something missing .
I’m sitting on the floor of my bedroom, glancing at my left arm. I pulled up the sleeve just a little bit and rolled my arm to the right, just so that I can see it better.
Then all of a sudden my friend called me and we talked for an hour, how we have changed and how we thought we would be and how we ended up and to all our amazement  happier than we thought.
As much as I would love to call that a coincidence. I believe everything is connected and everything happens for a reason.
So don't get disheartened in this race of cutoff and colleges. What matters is the course and  your love and dedication to the subject .There is a reason to why you're in that course. as to why you had such a hard time ,or as to why life did not turn out to be as you had planned.
There is always a reason and one day it will find you.
Just as how I found mine you'll find yours.
