Are You Here By Choice Or By Chance?

There are different courses to do your diploma ,graduation or whatever that u want to do, it's like a buffet  to chose from a buffet that requires to be selected precisely. If chosen wrongly you would end up with a stomach pain . One with which you'll end up in  the hospital or might  even get gas.

·      It's necessary that when you  chose you decide that the dish that your choosing you like it.

·      You need to be confident that you want to eat it.

·      You should know that that you'll be able to hold it.

·      You should know that how much of the dish you can take.

·      You should know what's your capacity.

·      How many of the dishes can you consume.

Reading this article might make you a little hungry or confused. But all m saying is that when you chose a course  and college you need to be absolutely sure that the choice that you have made is good for you and is your choice, not of someone else because like all studies you are the one who has to study, no one else is going to do it for you, and if u think that someone will then you are a fool.

College is a matter of choice so when u are sitting in the room about to start just stop and ask yourself this question are you here by choice or by chance?

The admission seeking phase of our lives seems quite exhausting. The board exam results, the cutoffs, admission criteria’s, college preferences, course selection, numerous options or none at all build up stress for a certain period of time.

In life we often find ourselves stuck at a place with multiple diverging roads and the best one has to be chosen. Applying all the permutations and combinations, a result has to be derived upon leading to a brighter future.

The post school phase is a crucial one. The burning question comes where one has to choose between a better course and a better college.

The point is, definition of ‘better’ may vary significantly for every individual.

One may find a course with good job opportunities attractive and for another, a course of interest may seem desirable for the future. Similarly in college, one with high rank may seem appealing to some and to others, one near to the home or with good faculty, placement or cultural activities.  Most of the times, there is a debate on choosing course over college or college over course. Views vary here too. Some believe a good college gives a foundation for the future and a happening environment makes college years worth living and exploring. On the other hand some say course is all that matters, as the future entirely depends on it.

The decision making process is tough, indeed!

It will not be right if I press my universal opinions and judge what’ s right or wrong for you or any other , all because the surroundings, situation  or the pros and corns  can be evaluated and decided by you and not me or any other. You may seek advice, but never blindly follow what the other person tells you to.

All you need to do is pick up a pen and paper, draw two columns and make a list of pros and corns.  Analyze the weight of every point and compare it with another.

It can occur that a certain college is well known and everybody claims has a good crowd but do not offer the particular course you want. Well, you can take admission in that particular college if you feel you can do good in future even with the available course but if the course is absolutely not of interest or college is far from your home, the inconvenience caused will be much higher than the benefits you thought you would get.

There can be many such situations which would leave you in such a dilemma of varying degrees.

Grab all the information you need, seek advice from experts, friends or parents, and then decide for yourself how you want your life to be. You’re the master of your life.

Prioritize your interest "The mark of a great man is one who knows when to set aside important things in order to accomplish VITAL ONES" The second we submit our answer sheets to the invigilator , breathing the air of freedom and relief of completing the voyage of boards , our minds slid into dilemma .We are happy , free , confused and lonely at the same time ( Thanks Taylor Swift for quoting our life ) So , happy and free are the emotions everybody is familiar with. But confused and lonely as we find ourselves standing right in front of a big red question mark , staring at our face screaming WHAT NOW ? To be precise which road to be taken . One is the road of our Dreams. Which we WANT to take . Whereas another is the road which SHOULD be taken . Priority should be given to our interests or the interest of the society ? 28/05/2015 class 12th board result . Or should I say the day reflecting our admission in DELHI UNIVERSITY . Almost every child is taught "12th mie mehnat kario DU jana haii" Is that brand name so crucial ? Should we prioritize our interests or go with society norms ? Scoring 85% to 90% doesn't always means DU. Not choosing the subject of your choice doing a forceful job and leading a miserable life is no where justified . Fetching good marks does not mean killing your dreams . " Dad I aspire to do fashion designing " But beta you scored 95 You must opt for some established university and go for a good course. ( And lead a sad life )With different ideas and interests we have a different set of colleges and institutions offering the courses of your interest. If your interest lies in Designing you have a list of well established institutions underneath : -Pearl Academy -NIFT -FDDI -Amity designing school Whereas if your interest lies in business related courses you may opt for -IP university offering BBA BCA and Bcom hon as well . -Symbiosis -Christ university -Indian Institute Of Management Another field of interest is Media , journalism , film making and acting . Though journalism is offered by DU as well, list of others colleges are : -IP University -Amity university -National school of drama Follow your heart and never forget to prioritize your interest areas ." Live your life don't just exist " We even have a video corresponding the same .

Things to be kept in mind while making choice between courses and colleges

All colleges and courses of Delhi university are having equal importance as the other one have. Due to the reason that the faculty members of different colleges are equally qualified as all are  having  doctorates in  particular field of their  interest  from a recognised Universities.

Being a student throughout school and college is like preparing yourself for a marathon which will begin after you graduate. Focus on your goals and study hard, because the last thing you want is to tire yourself out before the finish line.

As far as how much the faculty  is appreciable it does not work until the students taking the admission in the college are dedicated towards studies and hard work.

College is not known for its World -class infrastructure or for its faculty members but the fact is that college is known by its student'. Student's performance on the basis of student's participation,capabilities,hard work,dedication towards studies etc will create a  goodwill for a particular college...so stop blindly following the top5  list of   colleges for admission because if you are capable enough  than you can perform anywhere better all  you need is only platform which you got in every college. This will only depend on the student engagement how much they get knowledge and use it in a right direction.

It's not at all like that if a college is not having good market value or popularity than the students enrolled in that college are lacking somewhere or are incapable and weak.

While in reality nothing is like that! 

Applicants are large in number while seats are limited.this is the reason that it is not possible that all applicants get admission at top 5 colleges so the remaining applicants have to try their luck in remaining colleges.

Every college releases their cutoff's the first cut off is expected to be cross 95% in every college . So, there are many student's who took admission at first cut off at different colleges which are not so popular ..

So what does it portrays that students who  scored above 95% also took admission at various unpopular colleges or out of campus colleges. It doesn't means that they are weak and are not able to take admission at top 5 colleges.so while choosing college don't only emphasis on the college goodwill  also give  equal importance to course you want to  studies.

There are various course where students have little choice to choose the college due the limited number of colleges offering that course. Courses like vocational- tourism,mass communication and many more....as Journalism course offered by  only 6 colleges in delhi university. colleges offering this course are located at south campus or off campuses..this is the reason students  subsequently have less choices while selecting college.

It is true that due to off campus college like Kalindi,Maharaja Agrasen, Laxmi bai college. they are not so popular or not active in participating in activities but that does not means they are not good in imparting knowledge to students...if you are a bright and  hardworking than you can sparkle anywhere..you only need advice in right  direction.

At last, after graduation no one ask you from which college you passed out. The only thing which you are asked about is what you learn in your entire degree.....so stop blindly following top colleges rather than  give more emphasis to course you want to study.

The #Month of the #Bewildered

  

Let’s start this out by being straightforward. Back in school, you knew what to do. You knew your subjects, you knew your studies, and all you needed to concentrate on was securing good grades. There was absolutely no confusion. However, if choosing between Science, Commerce and Humanities left you perplexed, then you’re about to face something a lot worse.

Now I don’t mean to scare you or anything. I will in fact, tell you how to face this time period. Let’s call it the Month of Bewilderment. 

During this one month of filling out application forms, sitting for entrances and waiting for the cut-off lists and results, students have a huge question mark impressed on their brains. 

This huge question mark represents all the questions that the students are completely bothered by during this period. What course? Which college? What will I do after obtaining the degree? In what field will I work? Is this what I wish to do 5 years from now?

 

These are exactly the kind of questions students struggle with on a daily basis during the month of bewilderment. We’re expected to know the answers to all those questions and in order to do that, more often than not, we make stupid, uninformed decisions. 

What this time period in my opinion, should be called, is the Month of the Bewildered. More than to the confusions that surround us, this month belongs to us, the confused. Someone needs to sit the students down and tell them that it’s okay to be confused. It’s okay to not know what you wish to do after college. It’s okay to not know where you see yourself in a few years.

Students need to follow their heart, and analyze their desired path before starting the journey. Make an informed decision, or don’t make it at all. The best is to always walk where your interest lies. But in case you’re confused about it, don’t be afraid to seek expert advice and don’t hesitate to speak up.

And always remember, you’re not the only one. So don’t fry your brain cells, and take it easy.
