No, this is not the beginning of a new chapter in your life this is the beginning of a new book!

That first book is already closed, ended and tossed into the seas, this new book is newly opened has just begun! 

Look, it’s the first page and it’s a beautiful one! 

On the first day of your college you are filled with bittersweet emotions.

Sad about not having the same friends, excited about having better. Sad about not getting the college of your choice, excited about desired course at least.

Talking about my personal experience, orientation day seemed like an entry into a new world. 

It was like ONE GIANT FRUIT BASKET WITH DIFFERENT KINDS OF FRUITS.

You see all kinds of people ,

People in fluorescent bandanas and people in flightfoot chappals .

People in high heels and plastic make up and people in oiled hair and nerd glasses .

You miss your school

you miss the familiar and comfortable feeling the walls of your school class room gave you.

You fail to realize how much these new walls will mean to you after three years.

It’s the time when you are confused about everything.

Slowly and steadily you start accepting the new people who are entirely different from you .

You are adjusted with the new environment.

And once you make friends you start loving your college life as well.

Give yourself a little time after all its the beginning .

Myths about Girls College

When a woman decides to attend an all women’s college, she is making a huge decision in her life.

Notice, I say “woman” not “girl” because as the old saying going for all female colleges, “We are not a girls’ school without men; we are a women’s college without boys.”

When a female makes the decision to attend a women’s college, she also has to battle several myths that often go along with them.

Here are the top myths most girls face:

We are all major feminists who are concerned with women’s issues

While some women at women’s colleges do fit this description, not everyone on campus is exactly like this. We all vary based on our backgrounds, experiences, etc. 

We eat too much and do not dress up because there is no one to impress

While yes, we do have our bad days when we want to just pig out and eat Ben & Jerry’s, we do dress up for class and watch what we eat. We are just lucky to have the option of not having to dress up because we have no boys to impress in class and dressing a certain way does not have an influence on how we are graded. Teachers want us in class to learn, not for a fashion show.

We are all lesbians

No, of course we’re not all lesbians. We like boys and some like girls.

We were not smart enough for co-ed schools

Super false. If anything, all women’s colleges are more competitive because they only accept women.

We are all either boy-deprived or never meet boys

Nope, many of us have boyfriends or go out on the weekends to meet boys. It is not like the college refuses to let us meet or ever see them. Back in the old days, the all women’s colleges used to set up mixers with the coed schools and host dances and invite boys only so the women could meet men.

We have a harder time getting jobs

Most people think we are socially deprived and will not be able to succeed in the “real” world because we have only been surrounded by women for our entire college experience. Actually, women who graduate from all women’s colleges are more successful and do very well in the “real” world.

So girls do not mind what people say and enjoy college Life in girls college………………………we love ourselves and do not need a boy to enjoy our life.

Delhi University is not only known for its number of colleges but for its tremendously vibrant fashion too. Students at DU are believed to be the trend setters when it comes to fashion. Girls carry themselves in the best casual outfits not necessarily the most expensive ones but comfortable enough suiting their personality. To complement those are the dudes, who are not going to stay behind by any means. DU has its own charm in fashion sense. Manipuri girls are seen as the fashion divas in DU, pulling of each and every outfit like it has been personally made for them. 

You can always see a group of girls discussing about their favorite stores and markets like Sarojni Nagar, Kamla Nagar Market, Lajpat Nagar, and Janpath etc. These markets provide you a glam look at reasonable prices. One can get everything here from tees to embroidered tops, flip flops to stilettos, jhola bags to classy hand bags. Everything is available with inevitable bargaining. 

The best thing about the DU’s fashion is, they create their own by mix-matching according to their own comfort zone. Here the fashion is full of zeal and charisma.

So the fashion tip for the freshmen is, irrespective of what you wear carry yourself boldly with a dazzling smile on your face.
